Boston Magazine Top Lawyers 2021- Immigration

Attorney Joseph Molina Flynn was chosen as one of the top lawyers in the Boston region for immigration. The list is comprised of what the magazine has named the 1,099 best lawyers in the region out of the nearly 43,000 active lawyers in Massachusetts. Only thirty-five immigration lawyers were named. The list is peer-nominated, and we are overjoyed with such an honor.

RWU professor testifies for migrants seeking US asylum. She knows why they can't go 'home'

In an article about Professor Autumn Quezada-Grant and the amazing work she does on behalf of immigrants, Attorney Joseph Molina Flynn is quoted as saying:

Country conditions reports can be critical in corroborating a client’s account, according to Joseph Molina Flynn, an immigration lawyer who serves as a municipal court judge in Central Falls.

“Every asylum case should have a country conditions report prior to trial,” Molina Flynn said.

Like Quezada-Grant, Molina Flynn acknowledges experiencing secondary trauma due to the persecution and terror the individuals are experiencing.

“I often find myself crying and not being able to sleep because you are carrying these people’s lives in your hands,” he said.

Massachusetts teen returns to Revere after nearly 4 months out of the country after losing green card

Sixteen-year-old Daniela Fernandez sat on a bench flanked by two large suitcases Tuesday afternoon. She scanned the cars that drove past outside Boston Logan International Airport until a gray SUV pulled up to the curb.

“That’s them,” she said.

Lorena Fernandez, the girl’s aunt, stepped out of the passenger seat and walked over to her, pulling the girl into her arms. It was an embrace four months overdue.

Lorena and Dani, as her friends and family call her, had flown to Medellin, Colombia in December for a family member’s funeral. They planned to spend five days. Dani spent nearly four months in Medellin, unable to return because she lost her green card. Only after repeated attempts from her attorney Joseph Molina Flynn, a MassLive story and help from Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s office, Dani received help from U.S. consular officials to return to Massachusetts.

Joseph and his team did a fantastic job handling both my divorce and immigration case. I initially contacted Joseph after learning the application for the I-751 Removal of Conditions was going to be a little bit trickier as a waiver process (I had been doing everything by myself at that point). He made sure I understood every step of the process, and was always straight forward and honest with me. He filled out all the forms, collected all the documents and evidence needed for my case, attended the divorce court with me, and prepared me for the final immigration interview. I was really anxious about the process so I naturally asked a lot of questions, but he (and his team) was always there to answer my questions on a timely manner over email and/or phone.

I recently obtained my 10-year Green Card and I couldn’t be happier! I 100% recommend Joseph’s services, and I am sure I will be hiring again when the time comes to initiate the naturalizations process. Thanks for everything Joseph!

Joseph and his team did a great job on our immigration case. The process was smooth: they filled in all forms, helped us to collect all necessary documents and evidence of relations, prepared my husband and me for the interview. We were over prepared and provided a lot of information so that the process was really quick and immigration officer hasn’t any concerns that our marriage and relations are real. We are thankful for all Joseph’s and his team effort. Good luck with your business!

Immigration attorney, formerly undocumented, becomes central falls judge

Molina Flynn is the first openly gay person and the first formerly undocumented person to serve on the bench in Central Falls, according to the city.

“I’m just extremely overwhelmed with gratitude that I live in a world where I can live my truth, and still be able to achieve something like being appointed to the Municipal Court,” Molina Flynn said in an interview Monday. “It wasn’t that long ago that all of this would have been unheard of.”

After attending a funeral in her native Colombia six weeks ago, Fernandez lost her green card at the airport.

Flynn says the embassy hasn’t responded to his requests for appointments on Daniela’s behalf.

“Right now, nobody’s answering at the embassy,” Flynn said.

“The whole situation is just tragic,” he said. “You have this 16-year-old who was granted protection in the U.S. and [that meant] her not being able to return to her home country because it was not in her best interest. She went from that to being stuck there.”

After a MassLive story and contact with Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s office, Fernandez’s attorney says the 16-year-old girl now has an appointment to get the travel documents she needs to return home.

“There was a reason that I reached out to you, and to you as a person of the press to help me get this story out there, and it was that I thought that if anybody knew that a story as compelling as this was going to get out there that they might be compelled to do something about it,” said Joseph Molina Flynn, Fernandez’s attorney.
